The Run of Play is a blog about
the wonder and terror of soccer.

We left the window open during a match in October 2007 and a strange wind blew into the room.

Now we walk the forgotten byways of football with a lonely tread, searching for the beautiful, the bewildering, the haunting, and the absurd.

Harry Redknapp Plays His Nintendo Wii

Harry Redkapp plays the Nintendo Wii with his son Jamie Redknapp, his daughter-in-law Louise Redknapp, and the whole Redknapp family in this clip from an English Wii commercial. Easily the greatest sports video of the week.

Two thoughts: Why isn’t Frank Lampard in this? And: I don’t believe the gameplay here is real, because if it were real, Harry wouldn’t look so genially confused by the technology and the crisply pressed button-down shirts, but would reveal himself to be a Super Smash Bros. player of elemental ruthlessness and power. I mean, obviously.
