Or, Grant (an unknown non-entity) was hired to run Mourinho's tactics with Mourinho's players and get pretty much Mourinho's results. Basically, Abramovich echoing the chant, "Billion Dollar Bolton".

I do think Mourinho is a great manager, but not nearly as great as Mourinho thinks.

It's perfect in a way too how Grant managed to end up with Pompey in the season where the Premier League started to eats its own, and became the lone (if suspicious to my ears at times) voice of reason at the club, promptly steering a sinking ship to near victory. And who did they meet? Chelsea.

Grant. The man who will take your club against any narrative sense to the cusp of victory and then lose by the narrowest of margins (yes, Chelsea had their chances, but this 100+ goal team still only managed the one).

Wow, such an amazing post.
I was totally lost in the first few paragraphs of your 'indulgence buying' concept or so, then suddenly understood the whole thing and started feeling exactly the same as the article went on.
Simply brilliant stuff.
