The Run of Play is a blog about
the wonder and terror of soccer.

We left the window open during a match in October 2007 and a strange wind blew into the room.

Now we walk the forgotten byways of football with a lonely tread, searching for the beautiful, the bewildering, the haunting, and the absurd.

UPDATE: Yes, but only on a six-month contract. Word seems to be that Calderón opposed the move but succumbed to a power play by Peđa Mijatović. I love Real Madrid. It’s like covering the Byzantine Empire.

I’ll try to put together some thoughts on the Ramos situation later. At the moment, I’m just reeling…I feel like Darren Farley turning around and seeing Rafa Benítez looming over his shoulder.

Anyway, the Clásico should be interesting this weekend…
