I couldn’t help but think of Myrna Minkoff when Myrna Loy was mentioned. Tangentially, I’m sure Ignatius Reilly would have gotten a kick out of the vaguely counter-cultural contrarianism and scoring asceticism of being an American soccer fan (though he would certainly have referred to it simply as football, doggedly refusing to acknowledge the possibility of causing confusion by doing so, ensuing wacky hijinks be damned).

Any man who has not fallen hopelessly in love with Myrna Loy at some point in his life is simply not worthy of the name.

I bet Javier Zanetti loves Myrna Loy.

And she may have given Diego a peck on the cheek for his performance last night. Had she done so, Argentina would not make it to South Africa 2010, as Maradona would be incapable of thinking of anything else for the intervening two years.
