He is a nasty, quarrelsome troll fully deserving of opprobrium, yet I am glad he exists. A few years ago I was in Italy and was never more amazed than when I saw enormous billboards promoting Napoli as a tourism destination, with 30 ft tall Gennaro doing his best to look welcoming, his bristling, bearded self cloaked in a gleaming white cotton shirt.
