The consensus among the fellow sufferers I go to meetings with is that the club owns MOST of the land north of the ground, but not ALL of it.

Which is very Tottenham if you think about. Rather like having MOST of the play, but not most of the goals.

But then, perhaps I'm just overly pessimistic.

After all, this is a Daniel Levy operation, right?

My God, I feel for you. This must be like being, say, Gary Mabbutt and actually watching them play.

I saw some of this speculation yesterday (the upshot of which is, for people who don't want to read the forum thread, that fitting a 60,000-seat stadium into the area Tottenham are proposing would be impossible), which is partly why I said their plans sounded fictional. If this map from the Times is accurate, it would seem to indicate that they own the industrial park and all the adjacent housing north of White Hart Lane, which would ease some of the space anxieties, I think.

But I don't know where the Times got its boundaries, and there seems to be some mystery surrounding what Spurs actually own. Unhelpfully, all the financial report says is that they've spent 5 years and £44 million in "60 separate property transactions, including 40 residential and potentially 160 commercial properties." Which doesn't make a great deal of sense.

On top of which, there's no shortage of reasons to be skeptical about the "grand announcement" before you even get to Google Maps...

I can't.

I just can't "let my eyes drift over them".

I've supported Tottenham for 40 years (since Wide World of Sports broadcast highlights of the 67 Cup Final on three or four-week tape delay. (and yes, they won that Cup in black & white).

And one of the primary things I do for a living is write and edit financial reporting disclosure.

This therefore pains me on multiple levels, rather like St. Sebastian.

We've been kicking the "new ground announcement" over at OTF for anyone interested in the musings of confirmed cynics with access to Google Maps.

And yet, I've still put my son on the waiting list . . .
