Agreed. A simple way of shortening the tournament would be taking only the winner (runner-up if necessary) from each domestic cup. Increase relevance by making CL more exclusive and giving Europa winner a spot in the next CL.

I just think it's a question of too many fixtures. I re-read my EPL post in the sober(ish) light of day, and I was perhaps a bit dismissive of the whole thing, but I just CANNOT stand Platini's pseudo-socialist populism which disguises a pretty rudimentary commercial business plan that puts broadcasting rights ahead of football.
