Agree with you, Richard, on Torbinsky’s touch. It looked like he hit it with the wrong foot!

But the assist is what made the play. Can you say “Brady to Moss in full stride?”

Torbinsky’s touch was very much underrated in light of Arshavin’s overall performance that night. To run like that on a diagonal through the Holland defense with the vision to get the one touch: marvelous. Echos of Schneijder’s goal against Italy.

This one was a virtual tie for me, because I liked Guiza’s best on aesthetic and technical grounds, but Semih’s on dramatic grounds. I sided with drama, but it was close.

I vote for Guiza, running right-to-left with all his momentum going left he kicks with the outside of his right foot and puts it in the net.

I agree that Semih’s shot – and several others – were more picturesque. But in those cases I thought the assist was better than the shot itself.

You’re probably correct when you consider the “context of Semih’s shot.”
