If I had to make book, I would say that the chances of their being a trial on the tax charge are somewhat higher, but the chances of a meaningful conviction are equally remote (largely because he will settle the charge if it appears that there is any real chance of such a conviction). Seriously, I would be very surprised if he ever goes to trial, let alone is convicted. And as we all know (or should) the operative phrase in Italian is not "innocent until proven guilty" but rather "innocent until adjudged guilty by a court from which no appeal is possible."
