"Liverpool fans have been sporting to show their opposition to their greed-o-crat owners, who have viciously threatened to kill the club’s identity by replacing their manager with someone more competent."

For me, that gets to the core of Liverpool's problems.

I've got big respect for Liverpool fans for supporting Rafa Benitez through thick and thin, but can't help thinking that he hasn't taken the club any further than Gerard Houllier did in the Premier League.

The Liverpool fans are great at building up their managers and players so they become untouchable. Jamie Carragher's a good example. He's a solid centre half, but I've seen more than one Liverpool fan argue that he's "world-class."

There's a lot to be said for loyalty, but seems Liverpool is the only club in the world where the team would benefit if the fans were more fickle instead of less.

Hamlet's indecision, Othello's envy, Macbeth's ambition, and Gerrard's lack of ability on the right [or is it in the centre? I forget.] Oh, the humanity.

I've always liked to imagine Shakespeare as a dogged QPR fan. I don't know why. I expect the Briatore-Ecclestone-Mittal takeover would really tickle him, though.
